Come run the 3 day mountain race festival that is the FRANKLIN mountains trail run. 



This is a True Texas Mountain Race on the Franklin Mountains. The races will be run around altitude at 5000' and climb to 7192' for the 50k. Most of the trails low are desert trail that is run able terrain with easy technical trail. The climb to the North Franklin Peak is a combination of straight climbing and switchbacks. 

The start/finish will be at the pavilion area circle inside of the Franklin Mountains State Park. 

50k will be one loop of 32.5 miles 

Total Elevation will be 9000' up and 9000' down

27k will be one loop of 17.1 miles

Total Elevation will be 5500' up and 5500' down


13.1 will be 2 loops. 1 loop of 9.3 and one loop of 3.8

Total Elevation will be 2477' up and 2697" down


10k will be 2 loops 1 loop of 3.8 and one loop of 2.6

Total Elevation will be 1221' up and 1371' down


5k will be 1 loop of 3.8

Total Elevation will be 417' and 505' down


King/Queen of the Mountain

6-8  miler to the peak/back 2200' up and 2200' down

50k Runners

This is a UTMB Qualifier for 3 points on the new scale.

All 50k runners should be aware this is a mountain ultra and that there will be inherent risks involved in running this trail race. There will be portions of the course that will be off trail, up/down screen fields and have cliffs on either side. All runners should prepare to be able to carry enough water to hold them 6-7 miles at at which could be 2-3 hours if walking/hiking. Also be aware that if you drop in this race you will need to do so at an aid station. You will also understand that you will not be taken in from the course as we will have to come out and get you. If you are hurt on the course and cannot continue we will use the Park Search and Rescue to insure your safety in that case. 



King/Queen of the Mountain

The recommended routes for each distance will be about 3.5-8.0 miles which will start at the mundys gap trail head and head to the peak of the north franklin and then back down to the start . We will use off trail/scree fields for some of the route and there are inherited risks involved in that. We may also have multiple routes as this is meant to have you see how you can get to the top the fastest and back down. 

To finish you must go to the TOP get a summit band and return down. This is the only way to finish.

We do our best to limit the footprint we leave at races and on the trails. With that being said we DO NOT have cups at all the aid stations for water. We encourage all of our runners to use reusable cups, bottles and hydration packs to carry water in. 



The park has amazing primitive camping and is available through the TWPD site below


There is a $5 fee per person per day for entering in the park. Children under 12do not have to pay this fee. TROT will be taking for this park starting on thursday-sunday.


By purchasing a Texas State Park Pass you will get free unlimited entry into Texas State Parks and Discounts on Camping as well.

20.4 East Aid -> Bowen Ranch Go down the bowen road the pipeline take a right. You will follow this until you come to a gate which will tell you to park and head west into the trail. 26.0 West Aid -> Hwy 85 North to Colonia Vista take a right. Left on Sotol to Canyon Ridge. We will make appropriate places to stop and park depending on conditions. You need to have your BIB, NAME and AID STATION on each drop bag before you drop it.

All drop bags for 8.5, 20.4 and 26.0 must be at the starting line no later than 5:30am. 



From I-10 go West exit 375 loop East. 3.5 miles on the left on 375/Trans mountain Rd is the entrance to the park.

Team RWB’s mission is to enrich the lives of America’s veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity.


With any race comes a small army that works behind the scenes to make it all happen. We think volunteers are the MOST important part of any race and we do our best to provide them with the best as well. If you have never been on the other side of the table than give it a shot.

Organizing a group to staff an aid station can be a great fundraiser opportunity for your organization. Earn up to $250 for your cause or that money can be used towards travel expenses among the members of your group, use it however you see fit.  

Volunteer Shifts Range from 4-8 hours depending on event.

All of Our volunteers will receive:

Free park entry, an area to camp,  race merchandise, and a provided meal on race day.

In Addition to this:

*If you volunteer for (1) Shift at any race you will get 50% off registration for any of our event in the future.

** If you volunteer for (2) Shifts at one race you will receive A FREE 100% Comped Entry Into any one of races in the future.

*** We will also have some shifts for our 100k and 100 mile races that we will give 100% comped entries for as well.
